Preamble

As the title says, I have owned my Mazda CX-30 (G25 Touring) for one entire year. Over this period, a few things happened; I fell in love with the car and gave it the nickname of Xaiver (him), I drove over 18,000kms in my first 12 months 😮 and I went ā€œoff roadingā€, not really it was just a dirt road, more on this later.

TL;DR

Long story short, I have really really loved my car and experiences I’ve had with this car over the last 13 months. The interior space is wonderfully comfortable, technology rich and ā€˜road-tripable’ with all the required creature comforts for Queensland summers. It also has a really spacious passenger area for the segment, I can sit in the back row behind my driver’s seat set in my driving position with no issues (I’m 6ā€3’). There is also plenty of room for multiple bodies in the boot (2 in total).

The 2.5L NA engine offers great performance for its class and price range. If I had the chance to buy this car again, I would (just with the ā€œon demandā€ AWD system (mainly for when you (or I) are being a silly billy on the road perhaps going around a corner)) possibly just with a few extras e.g. weather shields on the windows and mudflaps.

On my rating system (that I just made up), my Mazda CX-30 would score 9.5/10 wheels. The primary reason behind the lower score is my fault (😭), I now really wish that I got the model with AWD and heated seats (no they are not required in the land down under, but they are really comfy 😊) (it would be the G25 Astina).

Overview

The Mazda CX-30 put in one word is "Amazing". The next few sections will go over the following topics: Exterior styling, Interior styling, Technology, driving feel, a minor off road experience finished off with the rating (sneak peak, its good).

The Mazda CX-30 is a sensual looking car šŸ˜‰, its curves are very curvy. The above picture shows off the spectacular front end on the car and its face 😊 (mouth for grill, head lights for the eyes, side mirrors for ears and the smaller gap at the bottom as the mouth (it has a little 😐 emoji). Apparently, most people think it looks angry, that’s some major BS in my opinion. The car follows the Mazda Kodo design (Imagination Drives Us | Mazda Australia), I believe the car is based on the Kai sub design within Kodo design (that makes sense, right?).

Sorry about the Len's flare. Full beam lights shown

Unlike the Mazda 3 design the CX-30 moves the indicators and the Day-time Running Lights (DRL) from their integration with the headlights down to a lower location on the bumper, along with the sleek indicators in the side mirrors. One thing that really annoys me with my car is the halogen DRLs, having the halogen lights also opens up black space (closest to the main grill) in the headlight module which looks gross (NOTE: on the Astina models there is no black space, due to the AMAZING DRLs).
